Emerald on Calcite and Lutite
Mina Polveros, Cinturon esmeraldífero occidental, Boyacá, Colombia.
Matrix from Polveros mine, internationally not very well known deposit, composed of calcite in the middle of two zones of lutite and the main emerald crystal at the top, vertically. The emerald is a hexagonal prism, with vivid green color, gemmy and excellent transparency. The emerald has a perfect condition and a complex termination compouded by predominant pinacoidal face and two pyramid faces, one of them as a kind of bevel y the second one with small triangular shapes.
